The diagnosis

We went to visit their pediatrician, they recommended seeing a neurologist. After months of waiting we were finally able to get in to see her. A two- hour test for both boys later, we were told we need to wait yet again, to get their results in. I was on pins and needles awaiting the results. Being prepared with what I knew to be true deep in my bones. The results were in… Both my sons were diagnosed with autism. My oldest on the high functioning side, to where the doctor said, “his toes are in the autism pool”. Meaning, he has some qualities but is not severe. He only has some slight delays in speech and socially. Where he struggled the most was his focus (As he is older, we now know is ADD). My youngest, diagnosed with severe autism. His speech, lost. His eye contact, gone. My sweet, lovable baby boy. I knew then we would get them both the help they needed. There is a long road ahead of us, but we are buckled up and ready to face it!
