Some hope

After that school year was over, I decided to go a different route. My oldest son was going into kindergarten at a school by our home. My youngest had an opportunity to attend an exceptional child preschool classroom at a nearby elementary school. Wow, what a blessing that was. His teacher was so experienced with autistic children. He could follow the visual schedule that she had created for him, and it was incredible to see his growth. Although he has made progress in the school, we were still having trouble at home. He wasn’t sleeping through the night. He would take forever to fall asleep but then wake up ready for the day at 3:00 am. After a few pediatrician visits, I decided a study sleep is what we need. I wanted to make sure he wasn’t waking up due to sleep apnea or seizures! He and I arrived late in the evening and were given our room for the night. They had TV for him to relax to. It wasn’t until 10 pm when they came in to put the wires all over his little head. Surprisingly enough, he was too tired to really care and only attempted to pull them off a couple of times. He slept until about 6 am, the doctor came in and took the wires off. I was on pins and needles waiting for the results. Come to find out, he slept just fine! No sleep apnea or seizures. As pleased as I was, I was still confused as to why he couldn’t sleep at night!
